Swansea Substance Misuse Action Team![]() Welcome to the webpage for the Swansea Substance Misuse Action Team (SMAT)Swansea Substance Misuse Action Team (SMAT)There are many positive things happening in Swansea to make our communities safer and reduce the harm caused by alcohol and drug ('substance') misuse. The SMAT is a sub-group of the Safer Swansea Partnership and consists of 25 statutory and independent agencies. It is the job of Swansea SMAT to provide specialist social and health care services to tackle local substance misuse. This means offering support and treatment to children, young people and adults.Offering such support is Government policy and the SMAT is proud to provide a wide range of innovative services to help those affected by alcohol and drugs, not least the children, families and carers of people who misuse. The SMAT also works closely with other Safer Swansea partners to protect our communities from substance-related crime. Thanks to very progressive Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) substance misuse policies and funding programme over the last 10 years, Swansea now has a rich mixture of preventative, educational and specialist treatment services.
